The 2017 Subaru CASA Cycling Challenge took place August 5 & 6, 2017 at the Subaru of Indiana Automotive, Inc. test track in Lafayette. The Challenge is an extreme event that allows individuals and teams to test their endurance over a 24-hour period while raising funds to support the CASAs for Kids Fund.

Thanks to our riders, sponsors, donors, and many volunteers, this year’s ride brought in over $114,000 so far for abused and neglected children! And we had 23 Grand Champions who each raised more than $1,000 and so earned a CASA Grand Champ bike jersey. Those jerseys will be worn with pride!
Forty-teams teams and thirty-three solo riders participated (and eight virtual riders), with 363 total riders. Riders and teams ranged from hard-core cyclists to those just along for a fun ride to help abused & neglected kids. Sportstats provided electronic lap-counting and timing services with live on-site results as well as live results online so people could follow their favorite rider or team from anywhere! And the decorated CASA bike ridden by CASA staff, volunteers, and supporters was again a big hit – it is all about the kids!

For individual riders it was a race against the clock to see who could reach their personal mileage goal. Stephen Strayer completed 188 laps – for a total of 376 miles in 24 hours! Molly Cripe Birt was the female champion with 364 miles. For teams, the ride is like a relay, with only one member of a team on the track at a time. The top mileage team was a tie with both Illiana Express teams compiling 263 laps for 526 miles. Find all the 2017 results from

We are grateful to Subaru of America and Subaru of Indiana Automotive as our presenting sponsors. SIA once again went above and beyond to host a great event. They are true partners in this. Silver sponsor Arconic fielded 4 teams, provided great spectators, and amazing financial support. Also a Silver sponsor, Caterpillar had 3 teams. Many other companies had teams – and both Lafayette Police as well as West Lafayette Police teams competed!

CASAs for Kids Fund is happy to raise funds to support the wonderful work of Tippecanoe CASA and the children they serve.

Check out all our Top Fundraisers in the box to the right. The Top Team fundraisers were St. Tom’s Boiler Catholics, New Chauncey Randoneurs, and Rush to Glory. The Top 3 Individual fundraisers were Father Patrick Baikauskas, Alan Karpick and Ray Mills. Thank you so much!
